HASHIMOTO'S

ABOUT HASHIMOTO'S

Understanding what is affecting you

You may already know that Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease. Like other autoimmune disease, the body is attacking itself. In the case of Hashimoto's, the body is attacking the thyroid. The thyroid is important for functions of metabolism. Every body system is affected by thyroid dysfunction. That is why when there is not enough thyroid hormone the body acts "sluggish" with symptoms of weight gain, constipation, depression, cold hands and feet. When the thyroid is overactive the body is in "overdrive", there are symptoms of sweating, weight loss without trying, palpitations, anxiety.

Your thinking, why am having these symptoms? The answer is, it depends. Some people have a genetic predisposition, being exposed to endocrine disruptors, physical and emotional triggers, nutrient deficiencies, or intestinal permeability, also known as "leaky gut". A functional medicine approach is looking at these factors, testing and correcting where necessary.

I will doo this approach but start by healing your gut among addressing other imbalances. I am sure you, like me, have tried to your gut somehow but symptoms have come back or have not completely completed a gut protocol. If you have tried a conventional method and are not getting results, book a 15-minute call to see if my program is right for you.
